GUIDELINES
Please
read this WHOLE page carefully before applying
to any of the ChristLight Web Rings. Also please read our
PURPOSE
AND OBJECTIVES
page. Familiarising yourself
with our expectations will save problems with our maybe
having to reject your site for one of the reasons stated
below. It will also demonstrate to us that you are serious
about becoming a member of our friendship circle!
Please
understand that a rejection of your SITE is NOT a
rejection of YOU! We love you, even if something on
your site does not fit into the principles of this particular
set of web rings. Thank you for understanding. :-)
Your site belongs in a CL Ring if :-
1. You believe
in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Living
Son of God, who came to
earth to save the world from sin.
("For
all have sinned,
and fall short of the glory of God"
- Romans
3:23)
2. You want to glorify
Christ, whom you believe has redeemed
YOU by payment in His
own blood (1Peter
1:18-19)
3. You believe that you
are saved purely through the grace of
God and not by any other
workings
(Ephesians
2:8-9)
4. You believe God loves
YOU!
(John
3:16)
5. You love God (Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit)
(Joshua
22:5)
6. You like to say so! (Romans 1:16)
7. Your site reflects
this in some way! (Acts
1:18; Acts 26:16)
8. Your site and its
links are intended to not only glorify
Jesus, but also to KEEP HIS COMMANDS! (John 14:15, 23)
9. Your site in NO
WAY leads others along ANY path but
the one Jesus has laid out in His Gospel. There is only ONE
mediator between God and Man - Jesus is the Way, the Truth,
and the Light. No man comes to the Father except by Him.
If you site has links to sites that say otherwise, it does not
belong on this particular web ring. Thank you!
Guidelines for acceptance:
Your denomination
is irrelevant, as long as it is a fully-considered
CHRISTIAN denomination. We do not accept "apologetics",
churches following doctrines other than the one true Bible, etc.
This means that Mormon (LDS) sites, Jehova's Witness sites, 7th Day
Adventist sites, and the like, are not acceptable to this web ring. We
love Mormon people (my own brother is an elder in Salt Lake City)
and Witness people and SDA people, and all the others, but we hate
the false doctrines they have been trapped in, and cannot in any way
aid the spread of those doctrines.
The main theme of
your site (ministry,
church, hobby, business,
pets, personal interest, etc) is also irrelevant, though we ask
that you apply only to the rings that your site does classify for.
As long as your site somewhere glorifies Christ with MORE than
just a symbol or graphic, (in other words, with a page or section
dedicated to stating your faith) and is within solid Biblical
principles and in no way goes against those principles.
In other words, pets are fine. New Age is not.
If yours is a low-Christian-content
site, then somewhere on
your main Home Page in clear
view there should be some
form of obvious declaration
for Christ - something MORE than
simply a small graphic or link. It should be one of the first things
your visitors notice - that yours is a Christian-owned site.
Thus sites about any topics that would not offend Jesus or
lead people away from Christian principle according to the Word,
are welcome, as long as the owner openly declares allegiance to
Christ on the main page and as long as it fits into its ring category.
If yours is a high-Christian-content
site, Christ MUST be clearly
glorified above other images
and issues. The purpose of
this ring is to lead people
to sites that glorify Jesus and no other,
and demonstrate that Christians are truly out to
TAKE THE WEB FOR CHRIST.
In the same vein,
if we feel that something on your site is
contrary to Scriptural Principles
we reserve the right to ask
you to clarify. With prayer,
we will decide whether or not your site
presents a problem to the ethic
of this particular Web Ring.
(Please, if you have graphics
with skulls, demonic images, or
similar, either take them off or don't apply. Christ is the Way
that leads to LIFE, not death!)
IMPORTANT:
We
are insistent that sites contain NO material, or links
to
material, that is not within Bibilical principle. We do not
want unsuspecting travellers along the ChristLight rings to
suddenly click a link on a site and find themselves in a
gambling den, or on an occult or similar site.
You would
not send a beloved child of yours to go and play
with little Johnny, if you knew that little Johnny's big brother
sometimes played games that could endanger your child's life.
Likewise, we have a responsibility to the children of God - saved
and as yet unsaved - to ensure that our web rings don't send them
to web sites that link them to other sites with "unsafe" content that
could endanger their spiritual lives , such as gambling, witchcraft, or
other abominations before God. Therefore, please be very aware of
the web rings and links on your web site, of click-throughs on hit
counters or advertising, etc.
Of
course, many "free site" hosts contain click-link banners, eg
Geocities. We understand this and all we ask is that you have
a disclaimer beneath the banner warning your visitors that this is
beyond your control, and suggesting that visitors exercise
caution if clicking through.
But
we do mean, for example, that sites using HITBOX as their
counter are not acceptable into the ring unless they remove the
Hitbox. There are many equally good stats counters that do not
front for gambling dens, such as http://www.superstats.com ... or
there are now several Christian counters available too.
If
your site is a MEMBER of any organisation that itself links
via a ring or banner to sites that contain influences SUCH AS
for example: Wicca (eg: Ladies of the Heart - LOTH),
blatant feminism that goes against Scripture (eg Phenomenal
Women of the Web - PWOTW) - and yes, ChristLight consists of
3 women! - New Age, cults, Masonic lodges or their offshoots
such as the Rainbow groups; any groups linked to the
Illuminati/Priory of Sion or side-groups; Mormonism and other
apologetics, anything that leads people into wrong
beliefs
or takes the spiritual focus off Jesus Christ, including
alien (eg Star Trek), mystic, science fiction, dragons
and dungeons, etc.
Please
check all your links carefully to ensure they do
honour Christ; we will be checking periodically after your
entry, too, to ensure mistakes aren't made by either you or us.
If you reach a site
on a CL Ring that you feel does not meet with the
above guidelines, please email
me and let me know your thoughts.
I will submit the problem to
prayer and my helpers and if I feel
convicted to remove that site,
I shall do so.
We expect that web
sites on our circuit will remember that
this is a service to their visitors
as well as to themselves; that
they take their visitors into
consideration, and also that they
take the administrators of the
Web Ring into consideration.
Web design should be not only
beautiful, but functional too -
seek to please your visitors,
to help and not hinder, and please
don't overload your download times per page; for example,
spread graphics and java through your site on different pages,
don't have
music that starts automatically if we can't quickly
find the
switch-off knob, etc.
And very
importantly, please ensure that visitors arriving
at your site can
see immediately, from the page they land
on, how to get OUT
of your site and back onto the ChristLight
web ring circuit.
Not everyone who is surfing the ring has
the same tastes
as yourself, and they may be looking for
sites with a different
feel, or content. This is their right.
Please don't make
them search for the ring fragment; if
you
are doing so, you are serving not your visitors, but yourself.
Thus we ask that if your ring code is not on your main page,
then you do need to have a clear link FROM that main page,
to the page on which the ChristLight ring is located. This link
should clearly say WEBRINGS so as not to confuse! If you have
several web ring pages, please create a clear index of the rings
so that visitors can quickly find what they are looking for.
If you
do NOT have a clear link to the ChristLight web ring page,
then we reserve the right to change the URL submitted, to the
page containing the web ring.
As
Christians, we are expected to do all things with love. Please
respect this
Attitude of Christ, and honour it by your behaviour
on this ring.
We cannot and will not enter into private disputes
between individual
members so please don't ask. :-) However,
if there is
a valid complaint against a particular site or person
that can be
backed up by fact, we will submit this to prayer, too,
and if the Lord
asks us to act, we shall.
Remember
that we all make mistakes, we all err, we all sometimes
labour under the
wrong ideas and impressions, we are all on a journey
with Christ, learning as we go along. We are not all in the same place
on the road as others; the Lord has taught us all at a different pace.
Should a site be found that doesn't follow our guidelines, our first action
will be to ask the site owner about it and explain the problem, and
hopefully we can take it from there; we may both learn something!
If you're

through scriptural
principles & God's leading,
and you want to be
